Immaculate Heart Sisters in Brantford

Our Lady Queen of Peace Cenacle prayer group had been praying unceasingly.   “Come Holy Spirit Come, by means of the powerful intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, your well-beloved spouse.”
“The wind blows where it wills.” (John 3:8) and quietly, without fanfare, the two “blue nuns”, as I like to call them, arrived in Brantford, Ontario, Canada on May 11, 2011 settling in at St. Pius X Parish. A little like Mary Poppins, out of the big blue sky (from the heavens?). From Nigeria to be exact, with a Doctor’s Bag in hand! Our parish community had no idea what was about to unfold. Slowly but surely things began to change, not only around St. Pius Parish, but in the wider community as well.

A time of grace, a blessing bestowed upon us, an answer to our prayers.

On January 16, 2014 we had our first meeting for the Associates of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Mother of Christ at St. Pius X Church. But many also attended from surrounding parishes drawn like a magnet to these charismatic nuns, Sister Mary Angeleen and Sister Mary De Porres, who very quickly had made their presence known. They were everywhere! Wherever they were needed. Did they ever sleep?? Truly living out the Gospel; putting the Gospel into Action. I think it was their own example of Christian love, compassion, and humility that drew us in.

We were asked what brought us to this first meeting. Could it be a response to the prompting of the Holy Spirit?  “Come and See!”

The fruits began to grow.

The Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Mother of Christ continued

to reach out to the community in the hopes of making the Madonna Renewal Center a reality in Freeport Illinois. The Sisters recently participated in the Homecoming Parades of Freeport Senior High School and Aquin Catholic High School.

In recent articles and videos on the Pro Life Corner, we gave you some insight about what the Sisters want to accomplish in establishing the Madonna Renewal Center.

After Easter!

Dearest Friends, only a few days ago, we celebrated the Feast of Divine Mercy. We equally celebrated the power of love in the two giants of our faith, Popes John XXIII and John Paul II canonized on April 27, 2014. I believe in these awesome events we are renewed in God’s unfathomable love that is “new every morning” and reassured that the ocean of mercy will always overflow in our lives. It is in that spirit of Faith, Hope and Love that I wish you blessings!

The Hebrews hurried out of Egypt’s Slavery, yet wandered for years unsettled. The 40 years wilderness, the uncertainties, the darkness caused them to seem directionless, lost and empty. Yet, this rigor wound their way to the promise land. This process enabled them to discover their quasi trust in Divine providence, their vulnerability, their resilience, their insecurity, their strength and the power of God’s faithful love. However, it was not until they arrived the Promised Land that they looked back to reminisce the powerful wilderness in their lives. May God’s Holy Angels guide each of us to focus on Divine Providence amidst the storms and wildernesses of life. May we never grow weary and lose the rich lessons of our personal wilderness. Permit me to borrow the words of the great Jesuit priest Pedro Arrupe, calling on all of to “Fall in Love” with Jesus all over again, “Nothing is more practical than finding God, that is, than falling in love in a quite absolute, final way. What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination will affect everything. It will decide what will get you out of bed in the mornings, what you will do with your evenings, how you spend your weekends, what you read, who you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with joy and gratitude. Fall in love, stay in love, and it will decide everything.
